Jamie’s
Journey...
I grew up in the northend of Hartford, Connecticut, and I relocated
to Wildwood, Florida in 1996 to become an instructor and Dean of Women
at the Youth Challenge International School of Ministry. In 1997 I
got married to the Reverend George Shaw, who I had met in 1994 while
on vacation in Florida. George is the Resident Director for the Youth
Challenge of Florida Rehabilitation program of which he is a graduate.
We are truly blessed to be able to do the work of the Lord together.
We are determined to help others get their deliverances and
healings and to achieve their destinies in God. |
In
the fall of 1988, I enrolled in Youth Challenge Bible College in
Sunbury, Pennsylvania. I graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor’s
Degree in Biblical Studies. I returned to the Youth Challenge Mission
for Women to give back to hurting and broken women the teaching,
counseling and care that I had received. Only God knew what He had
in store for me. In 1994 I was credentialed to become a licensed
minister with Youth Challenge International. I give all
the glory and praise to Almighty God.
My
life was not always successful! I started using marijuana
and graduated to cocaine at a young age. It was a lifestyle that
would lead me down a self-destructive path until one day at my job,
I made friends with a co-worker Mickey and his fiancé, who
is now his wife. He
was a graduate of the Youth Challenge Men’s program, and he
constantly told me about the love of Christ and how Christ could
change my life. In 1985, after years of frustration of being addicted,
I entered Youth Challenge Mission for Women. My life changed!!
The Lord delivered me from substance abuse, Hallelujah!!
Great is the Lord and He is greatly to be praised! (Psalm 96:4 NKJV) |
A
Message To Parents And Children
Please pay attention to the feelings of your children and include
them in the decisions that you are making for their future. Children,
learn to express your feelings to your parents, listen to them and
learn from them. REMEMBER, DRUGS ARE NOT THE ANSWER!

I am free! free! free!
As
a child, I enjoyed dancing. Between the ages of twelve and sixteen,
I was involved in the art of ballet. At age thirteen, I had the
opportunity to travel throughout the United States with a dance
company. I loved ballet! It was the joy of my life, and I excelled
in it. Then, one day a decision was made by my mom and it was devastating
to me. I turned to drugs! But my story does not end there. Jesus
healed me of my drug addiction. Thank God, I am free! free! free!
What Jesus did for me at Youth Challenge Mission for Women, He can
certainly do for anybody! |
