Dear Friend,
Greetings in Christ Jesus!
As I write this letter I can only think of saying, "Thank you,
Jesus!" He makes the miracles come to pass. Thirty-one years
ago Youth Challenge of Connecticut came into existence. The year was 1970.
Hard-core drug addicts filled the streets of Hartford, with no place to
go to be set free from the stranglehold of drugs.
Back then, there was no place for addicted people to be healed. Yes, the
word is healed not arrested or recovering - but, healed in Jesus
Name. "He whom the Son sets free is free indeed!" I believe
this with all my heart and soul. Drug addicts can be set free. II Corinthians
5:17 seals the deal!
As a testimony of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we recently celebrated
our anniversary in the heart of the city, at the Hartford Hilton. Please
take a look at the photos on the next page.) It was in this setting that
we heard so many stories of His awesome grace. Youll be reading
some of them here in this newsletter. Just a few short of five hundred
people gathered for this great celebration banquet given in honor of our
alumni, families and supporters that make this a reality.
Well-known Evangelist Nicky Cruz was the main speaker. We also had alumni
testimonies and VIPs from the city & state House of Representatives
we in attendance. The Honorable John G. Rowland issued a proclamation
declaring Youth Challenge week in Connecticut, September 16-22, 2001.
Our annual Walk-a-Thon will be held during this week join us in
our ten mile victory walk against drug abuse.
There is much more I could say, but let me end with this: Our victory
is your victory! Remember us always in your prayers. Thank you for supporting
us through the years. Our labor is not in vain. Forward
!
With much love,
Raúl González,

"If you hold my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you
will know the truth and the truth will set you free...So if the Son sets
you free, you will be free indeed!"
