2012 Annual Walk-A-Thon Grant Given by Mitchell Auto Group
Youth Challenge of CT just received a $1500 donation from Jill Mitchell, of Mitchell Auto Group in Simsbury. Ms. Mitchell presented the $1500. check to Pastor Guillermina (Willie) González, beloved wife of Bishop Raúl González, co-founder and visionary of Youth Challenge of CT, Inc. in honor of Bishop Raúl Gonzalez and his legacy, for the important ongoing work of this program. During the presentation Ms. Mitchell explained the process they went through in deciding to give this donation to Youth Challenge. Each month, the Mitchell Auto Group supports the work of a different local charity. She talked about the fact that they are well acquainted with the important work Youth Challenge of CT has done and continues to do in the community. Jill’s father, Mark, was very close to Bishop Raúl and appreciated the business he had given them over the years. They wanted to honor that and selected Youth Challenge as the organization to highlight during the month of July because of its commitment to help those in need. A Youth Challenge graduate in attendance, Jorge Martinez, shared his story, and expressed gratitude for those who have contributed to Youth Challenge and been a part of his success. Jill Mitchell, Public Relations and Business Development representative, committed to promoting the work of Youth Challenge with their customers and individuals who visit their dealerships. During the presentation ceremony, Pastor Willie and Dr. Paul Echtenkamp, Executive Director of Youth Challenge of CT, gave their heartfelt thanks to Jill and the Mitchell Auto Group. Jill also agreed that this would be the first donation to this year’s Walk-a-thon and could be a used as challenge grant to encourage other businesses, individuals, and philanthropic organizations wanting to support the work of Youth Challenge. The Mitchell Auto Group name will be included on the September 15 Walk-a-thon t-shirt with other $500. and above 2012 Walk-a-thon donors.
