Youth Challenge Community Day
December 3, 2011 was Community Day at Youth Challenge and we had over 50 volunteers working together at all the properties in Hartford. The day was a huge success and without the support and collaboration of these volunteers we could not accomplish so much. We are truly grateful! On behalf of the students, staff and board of directors of Youth Challenge, we want to thank all the volunteers from Urban Alliance, Valley Community Baptist Church, Hartford Job Corps and South Central New England Regional Urban Ministry Network (SCNE RUMNet) for their hard work. Also a special thanks for the contributions from Woodland Pizza, Star Hardware and Dave Toor, a local Hartford business owner. Keep checking the website for future events. Youth Challenge Annual Alumni Homecoming Banquet was a Success!
Many thanks to all who came out and made the Youth Challenge of CT 42nd Annual Alumni Homecoming Benefit Banquet a wonderful success! Friends, family, and members from the community gathered on Saturday, February 25th, to commemorate 42 years of Helping the Hurting.
The event was charged with excitement as students, alumni, and alumni seed of the Youth Challenge Men’s Programs and the Mission for Women shared testimonies of God’s saving grace and mercy in their lives. The testimonies and thankfulness of graduates, friends and family inspired all those in attendance to join in the celebration of God’s saving grace.
The Rev. Hernán Alamo was honored as the Alumni of the year for his dedicated service to the Lord and his work in the Youth Challenge ministry. Pastor Jason Alvarez of Love of Jesus Family Church rounded out the evening with a stirring message of encouragement and motivation. The energy from the evening has not fizzled, but continues to carry us into this year, as Youth Challenge of CT moves forward to a new level in the ministry to help the lost and broken.
We encourage you to join with the Youth Challenge Alumni, Seed, Staff and Students in proclaiming “Moving Forward to Help the Hurting ” in 2012! Vanessa Rodriguez, a teacher at Bulkeley High School in Hartford and daughter of the Youth Challenge alumni association president Victor Rodriguez, made the appeal to all in attendance to join the $1-a-day campaign in support of the great work being done with addicts and their families. You can now make donations on-line by clicking here or going to the donate tab on this website!
